New Dining Concepts Coming to Redstone Gateway Project

HUNTSVILLE, AL  |  JULY 26, 2016 – A Madison-based restaurateur is working to bring a new retail development to a “landmark” location this fall in the City of Huntsville.

Michael Northern, vice president and partner at WJP Restaurant Group, is working to launch an 18,000-square-foot facility just outside Gate 9 at Redstone Gateway. The development will feature 12,000 square feet of restaurant, conference and dining space at the arsenal entrance where traffic from Interstate 565 feeds.

The 468-acre project will feature two fast-casual eateries, a sit-down restaurant and tavern, and a Redstone Gateway conference and dining center that specializes in business meetings, product introductions, retirement parties, birthdays and other celebrations.

The Shoppes at Redstone Gateway are Under Construction

HUNTSVILLE, AL  |  JUNE 6, 2016 -The Shops at Redstone Gateway are under construction and opening very soon right outside of Redstone’s Gate 9.

The Redstone Gateway Gate 9 Relocation Project Begins Construction

HUNTSVILLE, AL  |  JUNE 1, 2016 – The Gate 9 move has begun.

Work started last week on the repositioning project, with the construction of a Goss Road return deceleration lane and median crossover on Rideout Road. This began phase one of a multi-phase, yearlong project that will culminate with a new Gate 9 to be located three-quarters of a mile south on Rideout Road.

More than 41,000 people work at Redstone Arsenal, with around half of them using Gate 9 on a given day. With the establishment of Redstone Gateway – bringing the Boeing Company and future retail, lodging and dining to the area – traffic congestion has become a significant concern.

Jim Wilson & Associates (JWA) hunkered down during the recession, but kept a great team intact and stood ready to invest in a number of projects as the market came back around. “Retail development has been slow for a while but we see evidence the market is coming back,” says Will Wilson, President of the Montgomery, Alabama-based investment and real estate services firm. The company is working on an 80,000-square-foot project at EastChase, the 330-acre mixed-use development featuring more than 1 million square feet of retail off Interstate 85 in Montgomery. “We’re adding some big boxes to the development,” Wilson says, noting that JWA also just signed Hobby Lobby to a lease at the project. “And we just sold another parcel to a hotel, a Marriott, which is following the newly opened Hilton Garden Inn.”

JWA Donates $20,000 to Park Crossing High School

MONTGOMERY, AL  |  MAY 5, 2016 – Jim Wilson and Associates presented a fundraising challenge to Park Crossing High School – agreeing to match funds raised during the school year up to $20,000. The school accepted the challenge and, through a series of events, raised more than $45,000. Representatives from the Wilson company will present a check to the school on Friday, May 6, 2016, during Senior Honor Day at the school.

“We are thrilled,” said Park Crossing Principal Tracy Hubbert. “Even though we are a new school, we have so many things that need attention. This donation will go a long way to help us provide more services to our students. We are so very grateful to the Wilsons.”

Hobby Lobby coming to Eastchase in Montgomery

MONTGOMERY, AL  |  APRIL 21, 2016 – Jim Wilson & Associates, LLC and ALFA Realty, Inc., the development team for Eastchase in Montgomery, Alabama, are pleased to announce the completion of a new agreement with Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc. for a move to Eastchase. With site work scheduled to begin this summer, vertical construction for the new facility for Hobby Lobby will be underway by the end of September. H&M opening in the Riverchase Galleria in Hoover, AL

HOOVER, AL  |  MARCH 18, 2016 – H&M is opening its first store in the Birmingham area in Hoover’s Riverchase Galleria mall.

The Stockholm, Sweden-based clothing retailer has 3,400 stores in 55 countries, employing more than 116,000 people.  The stores carry clothing and accessories for women, men, teenagers and children.

The new store will be 25,000 square feet and is set to open in the fall.  the store will hire about 30 workers, and job opportunities will be posted here.

The store will open on the first floor near the Macy’s.  Champs, Justice and Knowstyle will have to move within the mall to make room for H&M.

Riverchase Galleria in Hoover, AL Opened 30 Years Ago

HOOVER, AL  |  MARCH 9, 2016 -A young newspaper reporter peppered James W. Wilson Jr. with questions as he sat at his desk in an office at the still-under-construction Riverchase Galleria in Hoover.

Distracted, Wilson turned around to a TV set on a shelf behind him.  “Hold on,” he said.  “I think something just happened.”  The space shuttle Challenger had exploded, killing all seven crew members.  That was Jan. 28, 1986.

A few weeks later, on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 1986, the $300 million mega-mall billed as the largest shopping center in the Southeast opened.  Wilson predicted shopping shock waves would reverberate throughout the state and to Atlanta.  “I think it will have more effect on Lennox Square,” Wilson said.

Redstone Gateway receives $1 million donation

HUNTSVILLE, AL  |  JANUARY 26, 2016 – The Poarch Band of Creek Indians today donated $1 million toward Gate 9 at Redstone Gateway.

The donation was announced this afternoon at the Chamber of Commerce in downtown Huntsville where Federal Building Authority officials and other leaders gathered for a press conference.

A media advisory said Redstone Arsenal initiated a plan to develop a business park on the northern edge of the installation 10 years ago.
