HUNTSVILLE, AL | JULY 26, 2016 – A Madison-based restaurateur is working to bring a new retail development to a “landmark” location this fall in the City of Huntsville.
Michael Northern, vice president and partner at WJP Restaurant Group, is working to launch an 18,000-square-foot facility just outside Gate 9 at Redstone Gateway. The development will feature 12,000 square feet of restaurant, conference and dining space at the arsenal entrance where traffic from Interstate 565 feeds.
The 468-acre project will feature two fast-casual eateries, a sit-down restaurant and tavern, and a Redstone Gateway conference and dining center that specializes in business meetings, product introductions, retirement parties, birthdays and other celebrations.

HUNTSVILLE, AL | JUNE 1, 2016 – The Gate 9 move has begun.
Work started last week on the repositioning project, with the construction of a Goss Road return deceleration lane and median crossover on Rideout Road. This began phase one of a multi-phase, yearlong project that will culminate with a new Gate 9 to be located three-quarters of a mile south on Rideout Road.
More than 41,000 people work at Redstone Arsenal, with around half of them using Gate 9 on a given day. With the establishment of Redstone Gateway – bringing the Boeing Company and future retail, lodging and dining to the area – traffic congestion has become a significant concern.
Changing With The Times
With 40 years in the business, Jim Wilson & Associates is still developing in a number of sectors.
Jim Wilson & Associates (JWA) hunkered down during the recession, but kept a great team intact and stood ready to invest in a number of projects as the market came back around. “Retail development has been slow for a while but we see evidence the market is coming back,” says Will Wilson, President of the Montgomery, Alabama-based investment and real estate services firm. The company is working on an 80,000-square-foot project at EastChase, the 330-acre mixed-use development featuring more than 1 million square feet of retail off Interstate 85 in Montgomery. “We’re adding some big boxes to the development,” Wilson says, noting that JWA also just signed Hobby Lobby to a lease at the project. “And we just sold another parcel to a hotel, a Marriott, which is following the newly opened Hilton Garden Inn.”
MONTGOMERY, AL | MAY 5, 2016 – Jim Wilson and Associates presented a fundraising challenge to Park Crossing High School – agreeing to match funds raised during the school year up to $20,000. The school accepted the challenge and, through a series of events, raised more than $45,000. Representatives from the Wilson company will present a check to the school on Friday, May 6, 2016, during Senior Honor Day at the school.
“We are thrilled,” said Park Crossing Principal Tracy Hubbert. “Even though we are a new school, we have so many things that need attention. This donation will go a long way to help us provide more services to our students. We are so very grateful to the Wilsons.”
MONTGOMERY, AL | APRIL 21, 2016 – Jim Wilson & Associates, LLC and ALFA Realty, Inc., the development team for Eastchase in Montgomery, Alabama, are pleased to announce the completion of a new agreement with Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc. for a move to Eastchase. With site work scheduled to begin this summer, vertical construction for the new facility for Hobby Lobby will be underway by the end of September. President of Jim Wilson & Associates, LLC, Will Wilson, in congratulating all the parties who made this transaction a reality said, “Hobby Lobby has been a part of our community for many years and we look forward to their new store joining the Eastchase development.” Located immediately east of the Costco, Hobby Lobby will feature its new store design in a 55,000 SF building on a seven acre site. Construction is estimated to take approximately six months with the store’s Grand Opening scheduled for Spring 2017.
